About Us

Hey everyone! We are Norma Rangel and Alyssa Velasquez, makers of Nascents. We've known each other since 7th grade and are currently college students living in Los Angeles. We started Nascents after wanting to do a fun, creative DIY project with candles on a Friday night. We fell in love with the craft and wanted to share it with all of you!

Now, let's talk about our name! As cheesy as it sounds, we wanted our name to reflect our craft of candles, so we knew it had to have "scents" in it. We also wanted to subtly tie in our ownership of our business in the name. So, we came up with Nascents, "N" being Norma's first initial, and "A" being Alyssa's. It is also a play on the word "nascent", which basically describes a process/organization that is just starting out, but shows signs of future potential. So, we agreed that Nascents was the perfect fit!

Nascents candles will bring light into your space and make you feel at ease. Watch them burn, or display them as statement pieces in your home. Whichever you choose, we know you'll love them.
